And wrapping up my D&D character pieces (for a while at least), here he is! The one I play! It's dat boi! It's that Half-Elven Cinnamon Roll! Ladies and Gentlemen, Milo 'Al Hedia!

He was born in the humble town of Belhaven to Morgan (his Sun Elf father) and Margaret (his human mother). At the age of 9 he was taken to see "Nova's Stellar Spectacle!" The show inspired him to check out every book he could on the subject of magic. Though, the town of Belhaven wishes he didn't. He's rather infamous for getting spells wrong in spectacular ways. Milo's trademark shout, "I can fix this!" sent fear into the hearts of anyone who heard it. To cite some specific examples, He ended up swinging one of his mother's coworkers Lord of the rings style around the room after trying a spell that would tie her shoes. One of the town's farmers was not happy with having one of his pigs float up into the air (and never coming back down). The only thing that made him angrier was when Milo accidentally turned him into a giant talking chicken. Needless to say, Milo was a little disappointed with how his magic was being received. At the age of 15, he decided that he needed to leave Belhaven to find a mentor to teach him how to master his magic skills. On the night he left, his parents gave him a few gifts. His mother had made a Hat and Cloak for him and his father forged a dagger for him (he gave it out of a "better to have it and not need it" kind of thing). There was not a dry eye in the 'Al Hedia house that night.

Since I started playing Milo back in September of 2017, his journey to find a mentor seems to be a lot more than he bargained for. Though it has led to some great moments. At one point, he had found a grey bag of tricks, which can summon certain creatures to your aid (since Milo had no attack spells at the first level, this was the DM being nice to me). One of those creatures is a Dire Wolf (basically just a giant wolf. You know those werewolves from the Twilight movies? Just think that for the Direwolf). Now, it's worth prefacing that Milo is a technical pacifist and doesn't want to kill anyone. Pairing him with a monster who knows nothing but killing has led to some funny moments. For example, during one of the fights, Milo told his Direwolf ,"Okay, take care of this evil guard, but don't chew him in half this time." The Direwolf nods... and proceeds to bite the guard's head off instead. As I am face palming, the DM is going, "What? He didn't chew him in half this time."

And you know how Milo was notorious for getting his spells wrong back in Belhaven? Well, in a recent session he found a wand that could grant wishes. He had made a wish to turn these transformed mine workers back to their human selves.... those men ended up turning into giant monsters... yeah, no surprise that this wand was then taken away from Milo. But hey, given that this kind of indirectly ruined the bad guy's plans, I count it as a win.

Though my favorite moment of all was Milo facing a big bad guy in the first adventure. He entered the hall where he was scheming, guards all around. Milo pulled out his dagger... and dropped it. On Purpose, to be clear. Followed by his wand, hat, and cloak. He then proceeded to try and talk the villain down. It seemed to work for a moment, but then a dark orb from the back of the room started whispering to the bad guy in a language Milo couldn't understand (I really need to use Comprehend Languages at some point). The DM gave me inspiration (an in game bonus) for that.

The original idea I had in mind when making this character was to be something more lighthearted and comedic. The other players were going with darker, edgier characters. I had one character prepared, but I didn't want our games to be an angst fest, so I bailed on my Tiefling Druid idea and went with the first funny thing that came to my mind. A wizard who is terrible at magic. Again, I think the parallels to Akko from Little Witch Academia are a little obvious (I had just finished watching it for the second time when making this character), though I think Milo does enough different to stand on his own. For one, his parents are addressed. I don't think we ever see Akko's parents in the show. Now, the inspiration for his name came from 2 sources. Milo Thatch from Disney's Atlantis: The Lost Empire (that Thatch surname being given to Milo's mother) and Dr. Mendalo 'Al Hedia from the Cowboy Bebop movie.

I'm having a blast playing this character so far and I'm eager to see what lies in store for him.
